#12DAYSOFCHRISTMAS digital marketing

9th December 2016

The role of a Digital Marketing Officer is to promote brands, products and services online with the use of social media and webpages.

Although there are no set requirements to become a digital marketer, employers like you to either have a degree or equivalent qualification in marketing, paid or unpaid work experience as a digital marketer or basic knowledge of the subject. You may decide to study for an award by the Communications Advertising and Marketing Education Foundation or the Chartered Institute of Marketing such as CAM Level 4 Diploma in Digital Marketing or CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing online.

You will be required to provide administrative support to correspond with digital marketing objections including social media interaction as required and directed promotion of the website, online review collection and collation as well as lead generation. Other, more general responsibilities may include general correspondence via email and fax, answering the telephone when required and sales team quote follow up.

A starter salary can range between £20,000 to £22,000 per year. With experience, you may earn up to £38,000 to £50,000 in a managerial position depending on the type of business, location and projects worked on. This may also vary depending on the hours worked although this will usually be standard office hours (9am to 5pm) and may be expected to work longer in the event of a campaign.

You could progress onto becoming a senior digital marketing officer, head of marketing, become a freelance digital marketer or move onto other areas related to marketing such as advertising or PR.
